Way up on the escarpment is this stunning property featured on Grand Designs Australia in 2014 which followed owners Joe and Maura as they built their own rammed-earth home. With views to the ocean, diverse garden zones, and examples of sustainability, this property is well worth the drive and the extra ticket.
The property is completely off-grid as it provides its own power, water, heating and waste disposal.
Joe and Maura are passionate about living in harmony with the many native animals and birds in the surrounding rainforest which is under a state government Biodiversity Stewardship Agreement.
The enclosed veggie garden safeguards bountiful produce from the hungry wildlife while a greenhouse and recycled-window glasshouse prolong the growing season for their cooler climate.
